Day 2 - IODA World Championships in Sardinia Italy

The day stated earlier than prior days with the expectation of three races with the first gun at noon.  The wind was strong this morning continuing with the 20+ knots from the prior day. But once everyone was on the water the wind dropped to 10 knots and resembled the sea breeze pattern that our team trained in for the week prior to the championship.

There are 6 divisons sailing with three starts per race and each of the 5 Canada team members is in a different division.

Thank you to Paul Robitaille for arranging a RIB for the Canada supporters to watch some races on the water.

Two races were sailed today. The first race had a good steady wind of about 10 knots. The wind started to decline during the second race. By 5 pm the RC called it a day and all headed for shore. The races started a bit later than planned and ran without glitches. The race committee was true to their word when they told us they would focus on individual recalls rather than general recalls. We saw large numbers of black flags and OCSs showing in both races.

The Canada team faired well with some great results in the first race of day two.  The forecast for day 3 is lighter wind.

Ciao from Sardinia
